Engaged for the build and design of the interior elements, this Murray Britton architectural addition saw the existing carport demolished to create a new garage with master suite above and elevated outdoor parents’ retreat.

The mid-century aesthetic of the 1960s built home sees the original gable roof line extended to create level one with the form slightly cantilevering over the understated garage below.  The external materiality is directly informed by the extensive use of internal timber detailing and weatherboard cladding, brickwork and basket range stone exterior elements. The connection is completed as a subtle reorientation of the cladding direction helps direct the eye across the façade.

Internally, as lovers of colour and terrazzo, the clients looked to their daughters for a fun and feminine touch to their ensuite and walk-in-robe. The pink terrazzo floor and wall tiles in the ensuite are paired with Polytec Parchment to the vanity and Tasmanian Oak on the walk-in-robe cabinetry. The varying pink tones in the terrazzo have been complemented by the careful curation of the paint finishes, carpet and curtains to hold faithful to the client’s vision.
